Meghan Markle Style: 5 Key Elements to Dressing Like a Modern-Day Princess
It’s safe to say that Meghan Markle has quickly become a style icon, and rightfully so! Ever since blowing up in the spotlight - moreso than she was before - her style has morphed into one that women of all ages can look to for inspiration. There are a few key elements that she weaves into almost each of her looks that keep her style classic, relatable, and simple.
Closed Toe Pumps
The closed-toe pump is the quintessential shoe of any women: from Barbie to princesses to the every-day working woman. It elongates the leg, is appropriate and professional, and can actually be a pretty comfortable shoe! Meghan wears pumps on an almost daily basis, and one of her favorite styles is the classic Aquazzura Forever Marilyn pump. However, there are so many gorgeous and quality options that can make you look like a princess instantly!
Delicate Jewelry
Both Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton keep their jewelry small and simple, and never wear loud or crazy accessories (unless a fascinator counts haha). If they do, it’s still delicate and appropriate for the occasion (e.g. a tiara or diamond necklace). By adding small touches in minimal places, there’s a touch of sparkle while still keeping it simple.
Midi Dresses
Meghan Markle is becoming the queen of midi dresses (ha, pun not intended!), which I am definitely a fan of. You’ll see her wearing midi dresses so frequently, as it’s the most appropriate for being in the royal family - no one wants a wardrobe malfunction! On top of the longer dress style, most are in solid colors and her outfits have monochromatic color schemes. Instead of crazy prints, she’ll utilize texture or unique silhouettes to keep the look interesting.
Use Outerwear as Part of the Outfit
Perhaps it’s just due to the weather in the UK, but Meghan frequently wears coats and trenches, and always makes sure they complement her outfit instead of them just being a utility. On occasion, her outerwear will take the spotlight over what she’s wearing underneath. I feel like I’m overusing the word “classic” in this post, but really, that’s what Meghan Markle’s whole style is. She invests in timeless pieces that are simple and go with many looks. She carries quite a few clutches, but I find that unrealistic for an everyday bag. The totes she does wear are neutral and basic without much added flair.
