Why It's Okay To Not Be Trendy
There's something I wanted to talk about today that has been on my mind. As a fashion blogger (and a woman) I feel pressure to always be wearing the trendiest looks. But I want to be the one to say that it's okay to not like a certain trend and it's okay to not participate. I wasn't a huge fan of the off-the-shoulder look on me. I got one dress that I found I liked, but nothing else looked good. I don't like the choker trend, and I'm so-so on OTK boots. I didn't buy one pair of culottes and I just don't get ponchos. (But as you can see above, I do love lace-up sandals!)
I could jump on the trendy bandwagon. I could buy pieces to try and make them work in my wardrobe so I can "fit in" with the other bloggers and be sure I'm fashion-forward. But I just don't want to. I strive to be honest with you guys and while I will acknowledge something is a trend, you won't always see my trying that trend out. I've even posted on here before about certain trends that I found weren't for me. I feel like there's so much pressure to fit yourself into a certain trend when in reality the trend should fit in with you. Ha, yes it's a cheesy line I know, but it's true! Don't fight to make something work. My #1 fashion rule is to wear what you love and I strongly believe that! Do you guys have any thoughts on this? I'd love to hear them!
